- HOW TO GET TO THE ISLAND -

There is only one way and that is by boat. The fastest way is by speedboat. Currently there are two companies  operate on Ukulhas, Coral and Nayaa. The journey takes about 75 - 90 minutes and a one-way ticket costs $ 50. Children under 2 years free, from 2 years to 8 years $ 25 . A place in the boat is always reserved by the hotel staff. (Flight number and arrival time must be provided in advance)

Once you have passed passport control and taken your suitcases, you will head outside. In the hall you will find counter D11 (Coral) or C8 (Nayaa), where a representative of the boat company will be waiting for you. He will take you to the boat as soon as it is time to leave. If you have to wait at the airport for the departure of the boat, they will sit you in the waiting room, where they will pick you up later.

Boats leave the airport every day at 10:30 AM and 04:00 PM. From Ukulhas at 07:00 AM and 01:00 PM. The exception is only on Friday, when the ship departs from the airport at 9:30 AM and 04:00 PM. From Ukulhas at 07:00 AM and 02:00 PM.

Ukulhas is the second stop. The first island where the boat stops is Rasdhoo.

* In case of bad weather, services may be cancelled completely. This happens only exceptionally when a yellow, orange or red level of danger is declared.

If you travel low cost do not mind a lengthy ride, then you can choose transport by local FERRY. Boat number 303 (Male - Thoddoo) departs from Male on Mondays and Thursdays at 09:00 and arrives at Ukulhas at 01:05 PM. The boat leaves Ukulhas at 09:45 AM and arrives in Male at 02:10 PM.

Keep in mind that the times in this case are approximate. It may also happen that the line is canceled and moved to the next day. On the MTCC website. MV you can find details of connections. If you want more information, search other websites

From the airport, you also have to take a local ferry to Male. When you get out of the airport hall, there is a counter on the left where you can buy a ticket to Male. Right next to it is the pier where the boat stops. In Male, change to Ferry 303, which goes to Ukulhas.

Since the boat leaves in the morning, you would have to arrive early in the morning to get to Male in time. Connections Airport - Male (ferry terminal) runs regularly (every 10 minutes for $ 1) or you can take a taxi for 100 rupees.

Price Male - Ukulhas roughly $ 5/person. Ferry stops first on Rashdoo, then on Ukulhas.

*I have never personally travelled this Male - Ukulhas trip to a local ferry. If you really want to save and choose this option, you need to find out for yourself more details and information you need to travel. Personally, my opinion is that if you fly to the Maldives, you have to count on certain travel costs. Spending another 4 to 5 hours on a boat trip seems a waste of time, but it's up to everyone what route they choose.
